One parent may see the other parent鈥檚 suggestion for therapy for their child as the beginning of a campaign to reduce their parenting time. The apparently high proportion of regulatory complaints is legendary. Ethics professors\, who have likely avoided these kinds of situations\, are typically little help\, simply warning students to stay away from these families. Senior colleagues and clinical supervisors can provide emotional support\, sometimes with a 鈥淚鈥檓 glad you it鈥檚 you and not me鈥 sentiment\, but more often than not\, lack the knowledge to provide clear guidance. In this workshop\, Dr. Jeff Chang provides a framework that combines risk management for practitioners with respectful engagement of parents\, and support for children and adolescents. \n聽 \nRegister Now\nIn this workshop\, Dr. Jeff Chang will: \n\nDescribe the phenomenon of high conflict separation and divorce and its effects of children and adolescents\, and the effects on practitioners\nProvide a framework for 鈥済etting parents (or guardians) in the door鈥 in a way that shows that as practitioners\, we are not aligned with one parent\nGive insight into obtaining informed consent\, maintaining a balanced therapy process\, and creating a context to 鈥渏ust let us do our work鈥漒n\n聽 URL:/events/working-with-kids-in-high-conflict-divorce-safe-effective-and-ethical-practice-for-the-average-therapist/ LOCATION:Virtual CATEGORIES:Mental Health Professionals Event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/children-of-divorce-image.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Vancouver:20250129T100000 DTEND;TZID=America/Vancouver:20250129T120000 DTSTAMP:20241218T213539 CREATED:20241211T165254Z LAST-MODIFIED:20241211T165254Z UID:139370-1738144800-1738152000@bcacc.ca SUMMARY:Enhancing Clinical Supervision Skills in Group Settings DESCRIPTION:Learn practical techniques to effectively engage in supervision in a group format\nThis workshop provides clinicians with practical tools\, techniques\, and strategies for effectively engaging in and leading clinical supervision in a group format.
